Miles Canyon Historical Railway Society

The Miles Canyon Historic Railway Society was established in January 1995 by local Yukoners, in response to concerns regarding the proposed dismantling of the White Pass & Yukon Route waterfront railway infrastructure and our railway heritage. The Society worked in close partnership, along with the Yukon Territorial Government, the City of Whitehorse and the Government of Canada in the planning and development of the Waterfront Trolley.

In 1998, the Yukon Electric Company Ltd. graciously provided an 8 hectare parcel of land located on the Alaska Highway, just north of Whitehorse and adjacent to the famous Copper Belt mining area. The Society has used the site to develop the Copperbelt Railway & Mining Museum Theme Park with the generous help of local business, supporters, volunteers and government funding agencies.
